As Chairman of Thien Minh Group, Tran Trong Minh leads the Group with strong values, clear vision, and a continued commitment to growth across travel and hospitality. With a strong belief in responsible business development and the power of meaningful travel experiences, he plays a key role in shaping TMG’s direction as a leading Vietnamese group with an expanding regional presence.

Under his leadership, Thien Minh Group continues to strengthen its commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainable growth, while staying true to its mission of creating lasting value for customers, partners, employees, and communities.

BOARD MEMBER

David Do is the founder and CEO of VI Group. He was a General Manager at Microsoft where he led Strategy, Mergers & Acquisitions, Investments and Joint Ventures for the Windows and Online Services divisions. Besides, David was part of the team which managed Microsoft’s investment in Expedia and his team led the acquisition of Fare-cast. His operating experience includes managing partnerships for Microsoft’s services businesses and well as serving as a member of the Board of Directors of MSNBC (a Microsoft/NBC partnership), CNBC, Ninemsn (Australia) and ventures in China, Australia, Mexico and the Middle East.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Cong, formerly Deputy General Director of TMG, has been appointed Group CEO. He has led the Group’s technology function and directly managed its online business operations.

He previously led iVIVU.com – Vietnam’s leading online travel platform – achieving strong growth, and played a key role in developing Buffalo Tours (acquired by Flight Centre) into a leading destination management company in Asia with operations across 11 countries. With over 20 years of experience in technology and product development, he brings strong execution capability to TMG’s transformation and growth plans.

Cong holds a degree in Telecommunications Engineering from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology. Earlier in his career, he developed mission-critical public systems for NTT DATA Japan across finance, healthcare, disaster preparedness, and communications.

Jemal-ud-din Kassum (Jamil) has had a career of 25 years in the IFC, including eight years as a Vice President, Investment Operations, and 6 years in the World Bank where he was the Bank’s Regional Vice President for East Asia and the Pacific. Since leaving the World Bank Group, Jamil has remained active in emerging markets, and is currently one of the Board members or Advisers to a few companies operating in East Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and the Middle East.

Soren Hartmann was, until the end of 2022, the Chief Executive Officer of DER Touristik Group and a member of the Management Board of Rewe Group. ReWe Group is a diversified retail and tourism group with an annual revenue of $81B.

He started his professional career in 1989 as a product manager at Take Off GmbH in Düsseldorf, an independent startup company financed by TUI Group. Later, he played a key role in building the TUI Group and became Managing Director of TUI Germany. Then he became Managing Director of Robinson Club GmbH, a leading German Holiday Club and Resort Brand with 25 clubs and 4,500 employees worldwide. In 2010, Hartmann then took over the management of DER Touristik Deutschland GmbH, where he realigned the entire company’s activities and helped to regain profitability in a short time. Four years later, because of the successful restructuring, he finally became CEO of DER Touristik Group. Over 10 years, he built up the second-biggest European travel and tourism group with 130 companies, including tour operators, travel agency chains, booking portals, destination agencies, hotel companies, and others, in 17 European countries. Among others, he integrated the Kuoni Group, Exim and Fischer Holidays, Aldiana, and Toothers.

Today, he is the president of the Federal Association of the German Tourism Industry, a supervisory board member of Der Touristik Group and other companies, an advisor, and an entrepreneur.

KENNETH M ATKINSON

Kenneth was Executive Chairman of Grant Thornton until June 30, 2019. He is now a Senior Advisor to the Board of Grant Thornton Vietnam. He started his career in international banking, and after 14 years with assignments in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Australia, he set up his own consultancy business. With over 45 years of emerging market experience and 40 years of Asian experience, Ken has undertaken advisory and corporate finance transactions in many emerging markets worldwide.

During the last 30 years, Ken has been working almost exclusively in Vietnam and Cambodia, which has included financial advisory, transaction support, appraisal of large projects with a strong emphasis on capacity building projects funded by multi-lateral and bi-lateral donors, project appraisal, debt finance, loan restructuring, and equity funding.

His key areas of expertise are the hospitality sector, project financing, contract negotiation, and restructuring.

His qualifications and experience include: FCPA Australia; CPA Vietnam; Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Advisory Board; Chairman of the British Business Group Vietnam (Year 2022-2023); Chairman of Newborns Vietnam; and Chairman of Operation Smile Vietnam.
