Over the past few years, Vietnam has emerged as a promised land for hospitality brands as consumers continue to seek refined and luxurious travel experiences. The country’s young demographics coupled with a surging middle class have contributed to a marked growth in luxury tourism. Affluent young Vietnamese are showing a taste for consumption and experiences over accumulating goods, while middle and high earners are also spending more on unique vacations or recreation. Many people today are craving fun, memorable and romantic experiences and are keeping a close eye on luxury travel trends on social media.
While Vietnamese consumers used to travel abroad to enjoy high end tourism, a growing number of options are now available at home. The domestic luxury travel sector has been buoyed by products such as seaplane, private cruises, customized tours, Michelin star menus and 5 star hospitality including private butlers. All are meant to secure one of a kind experiences for those willing and able to pay a premium.
In the natural wonder of Ha Long, several high end service have hit the market, such as 5 star cruises by a series of brands including Emeraude, Bhaya, Paradise…Some boats include private butlers, a treat once only reserved for VIP guests in top hotels and resorts. Travelers can not only take in Ha Long via cruises; many visitors now also opt for seaplane to obtain an aerial view of this world heritage site. Sightseeing by seaplane has especially grown in popularity since the premiere of the film Kong: Skull Island which was shot in Ha Long Bay and featured stunning aerial views. Hai Au Aviation – a member of Thien Minh Group – is currently the only company in Vietnam providing seaplane service. In addition, at the request of tourists, Thien Minh Group offers package services including: transfer coach, seaplane and luxury cruises.
For high earning Vietnamese, being treated like royalty while on a trip is now well within reach, as experiences of a luxury lifestyle that were once a dream are now available right at home.
