TMG – Grand Opening of ROBINSON NAM HOI AN 5-Star Beach Club: A Milestone in Vietnam’s Tourism Recovery and Development.
The grand opening of the 5-star ROBINSON NAM HOI AN Beach Club on March 23 marks a significant milestone for the joint venture between Thien Minh Group (TMG) and TUI Group and for the tourism industry in Vietnam.
The ceremony, held at Tam Tien, Nui Thanh, Quang Nam, was attended by distinguished guests, including Mr. Marc Evans Knapper, U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam; Mr. Adam Sitkoff, Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Hanoi; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong, Director of the Quang Nam Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism; Mr. Le Quang Trieu, Deputy Head of the Quang Nam Economic and Industrial Zones Authority; and Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Thao, Director of the Hue City Investment, Trade, and Business Support Center.
Representing Thien Minh Group were Mr. Tran Trong Kien, Chairman cum CEO; Mr. Nguyen Trung Cong, Deputy General Director; and Mr. Chris Farwell, Deputy General Director. From ROBINSON, attendees included Mr. Bernd Maeser, Global CEO; Mr. Andreas Küng, Regional Director; and Mr. Okan Tin, General Manager of ROBINSON NAM HOI AN.
As an investor, Mr. Tran Trong Kien emphasized that this grand opening is a testament to the resilience and recovery of ROBINSON NAM HOI AN. “The property was first introduced in March 2020 under the TUI BLUE brand, just before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. After five years of overcoming financial losses, weather challenges, and operational disruptions, the resort now reopens under the ROBINSON brand, signifying a fresh start and renewed commitment to excellence,” Mr. Kien affirmed.
Mr. Le Quang Trieu welcomed the opening, praising the 5-star beach resort for attracting long-stay visitors to Tam Tien and Nui Thanh, aligning with Quang Nam’s strategy to expand tourism across the province. “I hope this event will create numerous job opportunities for the local community,” he added.
Speaking at the event, U.S. Ambassador Marc Evans Knapper congratulated TMG on its 31-year legacy of promoting Vietnam to the world through milestones like ROBINSON NAM HOI AN. He also commended Quang Nam for fostering tourism projects that boost the economy. “After two days here, I’m confident your restaurant will delight every guest,” he shared.
A joint venture of the TMG and TUI AG (Germany) partnership, the 5-star TUI BLUE Nam Hoi An Beach Resort was established and began operations on March 24, 2020—coinciding with Quang Nam’s Liberation Day anniversary. In 2022, it earned 5-star recognition from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism. Now, as Vietnam’s first ROBINSON property, ROBINSON NAM HOI AN offers 318 rooms and villas, diverse dining options served in a spacious, elegant main restaurant, a beachfront bar, and poolside lounge. Its sports programs, tailored for ROBINSON’s active clientele, include two tennis courts, two beach volleyball courts, two padel courts, and a leading water sports center in Asia.
A standout feature is the HATAII Restaurant, blending Asian culinary traditions with modern Western flair. Making its debut in Nam Hoi An, HATAII captivates diners with a rich menu and artfully presented dishes, offering a unique gastronomic experience.
Mr. Tran Trong Kien noted that the opening reaffirms TMG and TUI’s dedication to Vietnam’s tourism growth. “Vietnam, emerging as one of Asia’s most attractive travel destinations, holds the potential to rival established markets like Japan and Thailand. ROBINSON NAM HOI AN is strategically positioned to promote Quang Nam Province and Tam Tien Beach globally. This aligns with TMG’s vision of pioneering integrated travel solutions and delivering authentic value through its portfolio of travel services, hotels, resorts, aviation, and cruises,” he said.
The project represents an investment of over 800 billion VND in equity and nearly 500 billion VND in shareholder loans, underscoring TMG and TUI’s long-term commitment and confidence in its potential. ROBINSON NAM HOI AN is projected to welcome over 20,000 international guests annually, generate 500 direct jobs, and create more than 1,000 indirect employment opportunities, significantly benefiting the local community.
Mr. Okan Tin highlighted the resort’s diverse sports facilities and unique fusion of modern design with traditional Vietnamese charm, aligning with ROBINSON’s mission to provide premium, active holidays. “We process organic waste in dedicated facilities, minimize plastic use, and actively introduce guests to nearby attractions through engaging tours. This is truly a sustainable path through tourism,” he shared.
“Today’s grand opening is a pivotal step toward a new era of profitable growth and innovation for TMG, TUI, and the tourism industry in Vietnam. While challenges remain, the project’s realization reflects the collaborative efforts of the local government, TMG & TUI management, and financial partners, setting the stage for a brighter future in the region,” Mr. Kien concluded.
