Hanoi, March 1st, 2023 – Thien Minh Group (TMG) and the Tourism Promotion Representative Office of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism in South Korea (RO) signed an MOU on tourism cooperation in the Korean and Vietnamese markets. Accordingly, the two sides will build a strategic cooperation relationship to strengthen the promotion of Vietnam’s tourism in South Korea and vice versa.
The signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between TMG and RO on developing and promoting cooperation between the two sides in promoting tourism activities in Korea and Vietnam took place solemnly at Flower Garden Hotel in Hanoi on March 1st. TMG CEO and Chairman Mr. Tran Trong Kien and Mr. Lee Chang Kun (Ly Xuong Can), Tourism Promotion Representative of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) and Vietnam Tourism Ambassador to South Korea were among the distinguished guests attending the event.
The MOU between TMG and RO lays the foundation to further tourism promotion and activities between the two countries through co-organized events such as media campaigns, seminars, conferences, exhibitions, and other joint activities. The event also set the basis for establishing a Vietnam Tourism Company in South Korea to fully exploit TMG’s position and experience in the Vietnamese market. The MOU will help both sides respond well to new tourism trends in both the Vietnamese and Korean markets.
“Of about 3.5 million international visitors to Vietnam in 2022, Korean tourists played a big part. In 2023, TMG aims to welcome 30,000 – 50,000 Korean guests to Vietnam and use the high-class products and services that we own so that Korean tourists will enjoy a wonderful Vietnam. Also, with our iVIVU.com online booking platform, we aim to bring more young Vietnamese to South Korea to tighten the relations between the two countries further,” Mr. Tran Trong Kien shared in the signing ceremony.
According to Mr. Lee Chang Kun, after the Covid-19 pandemic, tourism will witness the highly fierce competition. Therefore, he hopes that the cooperation relationship between TMG and the Tourism Promotion Representative Office of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism in South Korea will promote tourism and expand trade and investment between Vietnam and South Korea. “I hope that all the achievements that we have achieved are not only the achievements of the two countries in the past 30 years. But also, in the next 30 years, there will be many outstanding developments, and we will enjoy a sustainable partnership that lasts forever,” said Mr. Lee Chang Kun.
Mr. Lee Chang Kun was born in 1958 in Seoul. He is the 31st descendant of Ly Thai To, the founding emperor of the Ly Dynasty, and the 26th descendant of Prince Ly Long Tuong. After returning to his homeland with his ancestors, Mr. Lee Chang Kun made many economic contributions, especially in developing tourism cooperation between Vietnam and South Korea. Considering Mr. Lee Chang Kun’s significant contributions as Vietnam Tourism Ambassador to South Korea, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has issued a Decision on the appointment of Mr. Ly Chang Kun as Vietnam Tourism Ambassador to South Korea in 2021-2024.
Previously, in June 2022, TMG accompanied Vietnam Airlines to organize an event promoting Vietnam tourism in South Korea. In 2023, TMG will further promote Vietnam tourism worldwide to attract more international visitors to Vietnam.
